There's a First for Everything

Time recently released a special project entitled "Firsts", showcasing women who are changing the world. As the name suggests, the selected women are the first females to accomplish their feat within their area of expertise. From the first woman to own and produce her own talk show (hi, Oprah) to the first woman to lead a top-tier U.S. Combat Command, the women come from a variety of backgrounds and encompass a variety of specialties.

Did my heart soar and tears well up in my eyes while reading their stories? Yes. Did it evoke inspiration and honor? Yes. Do I think it they left out some key players? Of course.
But overall, this project is a necessary spotlight, highlighting women who are so deserving of center stage.
